Training Programs

HeaRTS

The Healthcare Recovery Training System (HeaRTS) is an employer-based program similar to Careers That Heal that focuses on the 20 Katrina and Rita affected parishes. HeaRTS training and placement programs are available in southeast, south central and southwest Louisiana for the following healthcare careers: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Patient Care Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), and Emergency Medical Technician –Basic and Paramedic. (Not all curricula are available in all areas.) Local HeaRTS training programs are indicated here with an asterisk (*).

Our low-cost training programs are funded by a $6 million Community Development Block Grant that was received by a regional collaborative of employers, education and training institutions and economic and workforce development organizations. GNO, Inc serves as the workforce intermediary and Delgado Community College as the fiscal agent. Regional training programs were initiated in August 2007 and will continue through December 2009 at the following campuses:

While Careers that Heal is a great alternative for people who need financial assistance, it’s not the only way to get into an exciting healthcare career. There are dozens of programs available to people of all levels, from GED and High School students to those earning two-year and four-year college degrees plus.
