How we got started Why a Healthcare Career Career Pathways Career Opportunities Training Programs How to Apply High School Students

The St. Tammany Healthcare Alliance and Delgado Community College established a unique partnership in May 2006 to address the urgent need for entry-level healthcare workers in our hospitals. The partnership received a National Emergency Grant (NEG) to develop short-term, employer-driven training programs. The Healthcare Alliance partnered with Career Builders to develop a recognizable brand, now known as Careers that Heal.

Today, Careers that Heal continues to represent healthcare training offered at reduced cost for high demand occupations. The current programs have been funded by a $6 million Community Development Block Grant, received by a regional collaborative across a 10 parish area of employers, education and training institutions, and economic and workforce development organizations. The leadership team is represented by GNO, Inc, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System led by Delgado Community College, the Region One Workforce Investment Board, the St. Tammany Healthcare Alliance and the Bridge project. This new initiative enables us to continue recruiting and training students  at reduced cost through 2009, and placing them with a wider range of healthcare employers.
