Careers That Heal helps to expand healthcare training

The Careers That Heal healthcare training program has invested over $1 million in the development and expansion of healthcare training programs on the Northshore.

Delgado Northshore enrollment has increased 24.7% in the last year. Healthcare training programs at the Louisiana Technical College campuses in Slidell and Bogalusa have seen an increase in the numbers of Certified Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, and LPNs that have completed training and are prepared to enter the workforce. Over 350 students have either completed training or are in the pipeline pursuing certifications and degrees as Surgical Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians, Billing and Collections Clerks, Respiratory Therapists, Nurses, EMTs, CNAs, LPNs, and Paramedics.

Many retired nurses in the region have enrolled in the Nurse Refresher class with Delgado Charity School of Nursing. Many of these nurses have re-entered the workforce following this refresher course to fill job openings and employer demand for experienced skilled caregivers.

Over 50 youth throughout the region attended the Careers That Heal Healthcare Scholars one-week summer healthcare experience. These young students are an investment in the future of the healthcare industry.
